Day 1 - Whale Safari & Overnight at Sea

Your adventure starts at 11AM with a full-day whale safari aboard the elegant sailing yacht Alma Af Froya. Gain exclusive insight into ongoing whale research and experience the haunting calls of these giants using towed hydrophone. As the Arctic air sharpens your senses, enjoy a hearty traditional Norwegian reindeer stew served onboard. As night falls, retreat to your cozy private bunk, drifiting to sleep at sea or in port. 

 

Day 2 - Puffin&Wildlife Safari with sail Yacht & Arctic Ocean Lodge Stay

After breakfast onboard, we set sail for a Puffin&Wildlife Safari to Bleiksøya, one of Norway`s most renowed seabird colonies. Sailing under wind power allows for a gentle and quiet approach, minimizing disturbance and reducing stress reactions among the wildlife. We strive to have the engine shut off as much as possibile at all times. This ensures a more authentic experience, offering exeptional views of the tens of thousands of Puffins that nest on the island each year, and other birds like White-tailed Eagles, Pink-footed Geese, Redshank, Red-breasted Mergansers, Barnacle Geese and Velvet Scoters.

 

As we navigate the Arctic waters, the day also presents new opportunities to whales up close, as these rich feeding grounds are home to orcas, humpbacks, and spermwhales. The silent nature sailing enhances the chance of observing these incredible mammals in a natural and undisturbed way.

 

In the afternoon, you`ll step ashore for a 40-minute transfer with our shuttle-bus to Arctic Ocean Lodge, where you can relax in our seaside sauna and hot-tubs. Settle into a Glass Dome or another accommodation at the Lodge before enjoying a dinner at Amundsen Bar & Restaurant.

If you prefer, you may also drive your own car to Arctic Ocean Lodge at your convenience.

 

Day 3 - Choose your own Adventure & Arctic Ocean Lodge Stay

Start your day with an unforgettable Arctic experience, choosing the adventure that suites you best. Paddle along white-sand beaches and beneath towering mountains on a kayak expedition gliding through crystal-clear waters where seals and seabirds are often spotted. Prefer to stay on land?

Take scenic beach walk, soaking in the fresh Arctic air and stunning costal views. For a more active challenge, hike to Gaveltinden (661moh), where beathtaking panoramic views of fjords and open ocean await. 

If you`re drawn to the rich traditions, join an Arctic Fishing Trip, learing from expert guides and perhaps even catching your own dinner. No matter wich adventure you choose, you`ll return to Arctic Ocean Lodge for a final night of comfort and relaxation.

 

Day 4 - Depature 

After breakfast, it`s time to bid farwell to this Arctic paradise. you`ll be transported back to Andenes, either by our mini-bus, or head in your own direction.

About Alma - Your very own classic expedition vessel

Alma is overall 70 feet long, weighs 45 tons and is an incredibly solid and strong schooner. She copes with all the weather and wind that our North Norwegian coast and Arctic Waters can throw at her.

 

This is a real expedition boat. With plenty of space on deck, there is a range of opportunities to enjoy the spectacular scenery, the midnight sun, or the northern lights. On board Alma, we can also guarantee that you will get the feeling of the Norwegian heritage and spirits of the polar heros Fritjolf Nansen and Roald Amundsen.

 

Below deck, there is plenty of space with a cozy galley amidships and a large and spacious saloon/barge that ensures a social experience for everyone on board. Comfort is ensured by a good central heating water-borne system, and all the beds are comfortable with good and warm duvets and pillows. She is also insulated and hence very dry inside without any problems with condensation.

 

Insurance & Liability - Important Information

All our guests are covered by our insurance through Arctic Ocean Lodge during their stay. However, all activities are undertaken at the participant`s own risk, and safety instructions must be followed at all times. For kayaking excursions, we reserve the right to a liability waiver, as sea conditions can change rapidly. We strongly recommend kayaking only for experienced paddlers. Additional, we adivse all guests to have a personal travel insurance covering adventure, activites and unforseen events.
